Organizing

http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/product_view/4206096

During this Christmas break I've been doing a little organizing.
I moved things around a bit in my studio so hopefully I'll be a little more efficient. We shall see!
While organizing I've been picking and choosing and putting together earrings mostly and one bracelet.

Above are some beautiful lime green glass tubes and micro faceted agate in shades of green and purple.
This has always been a favorite color combination so I pulled the purple out by creating violet enamel headpins and used some really pretty matte Czech Glass beads at the top.

These Ryolite ovals have always been a favorite and when I recently received these lovely brown faceted Chalcedony briolettes I knew they were a great match to pull the little bit of rust color out of the Ryolite.

Paisley Copper Rings and Puple Crazy Lace Agate.
Every once in awhile the copper goes purple which is one of my favorite colors.
Perfect for Purple Crazy Lace Agate.

Above are my Ammonite Rectangles with gorgeous blue green Opal briolettes.

How about the earrings above with incredible Lampwork Beads by Outwest paired with some Chrysoprase I have that are virtually all brown. I love this combination.

The Purple beauties above sold when I shared them on Facebook.
Sparkly Glass beads with more beautiful Lampwork from Outwest,
topped with Copper beadcaps.

I'm fairly sure I'll be keeping these Lampwork and Turquoise beauties for myself.
I rarely keep anything I make but I love these and may make an exception.
You may recognize more Lampwork by Outwest, this time with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise in Marquise shape and Acorn bead caps by Vintaj.

And last but not least this lovely bracelet.
I've seen this style numerous times by other artists and I always loved it.
I put my own twist in by roughly wrapping the copper around the heavy copper base inside,
rather than making smooth lovely wraps.
I liked it very much and it was bought once again when I posted it on Facebook.

I Heart Macro - Cacoon?

I found this...thing today, looks like some sort of cacoon don't you think?
It's cold and rainy here so those are droplets of rain that will probably freeze over night.
I wonder if it's still alive not that it's not sandwiched between the door and the wall,
 not so protected any more.

I recently closed the door of my greenhouse, which is where I often take jewelry photograghs and I noticed this on the outside of the door which for most of the year is propped open.

I'm very curious what it is, anybody know?
It's about the size of a quarter and as you can see it sticks out a fair amount.

for more Macro Madness
Where last week I apparently got the most clicks,
thanks to all you clickers out there!

Silicone Texture Carving

I've been exploring the idea of making my own textures for some time now,
there are numerous ways to do it and I finally tried carving on to silicone.

I bought some nice silicone sheets (above) recently from CoolTools but before trying those....

I decided to use some silicone erasers I bought some time ago,
to get the hang of it before I start using the good ones.
Here's my first attempt (above) then I tried carving on the side (below).

I find it a little difficult to tell if they are any good until I put some clay on it.

Here are a couple of green unfired copper pieces,
I think this pattern I'm going to call Bamboo looks super cool on these feather shapes.

It looks really good on the shield shapes too.

Here are all the pieces I made after they've been fired!

http://www.etsy.com/listing/88898346/handmade-copper-feather-bamboo-pair

Oh ya, I love the feather with the Bamboo texture!!!!

These long lean ones came from the side of the eraser,
I used the texture to create the shape of them.

The Shield shape is also a really good one of this rustic texture!

I'm looking forward to playing some more with making my own textures.
